Dyffryn Taf entered one of its Year 7 students, Harvey Yau, into the Senior British Mathematics Olympiad held in December 2011.
This examination is extremely challenging. The time allowed is 3˝ hours and the paper requires stamina as well as ingenuity. Anyone managing to solve at least one of the problems deserves great credit!
There were over 1,400 entries and most entrants were 16 – 18 years old. Harvey achieved a Bronze Medal in this examination, which placed him in the top 7% of entries in the UK.
This student’s mathematical ability has been recognised and nurtured since attending Narberth Primary School. Dyffryn Taf is offering him an express route through both GCSE and A-Level Mathematics. We wish him well.
