Curriculum
We aim to provide a broad, balanced, appropriate and challenging curriculum, with opportunities for all to succeed.
• At Key Stage 3, all pupils pursue a broad curriculum in line with National Curriculum requirements, in both the core and foundation subjects.
• At Key Stage 4, all pupils are taught the core curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science and Welsh. After consultation with pupils and parents in Year Nine, they add four other subjects, from a broad range, suited to their aspirations and interests.
• In the Sixth Form a wide variety of AS, A2 and Vocational courses are available, and students are assisted in their higher education and other post-18 applications.
• Every individual with special needs is monitored and appropriate provision is made available through individual education plans.
• A wide variety of teaching strategies supports pupils to become reflective and independent learners.
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENTS
The Dyffryn Taf Curriculum is to be transferred onto our Virtual Learning Environment, the Dyffryn Taf Moodle.
This site allows our teachers to provide an electronic version of each course which will include the course aims, lesson structure and all the assignments that can be set electronically. Students will be able to access their courses, lesson outlines and assignments from any computer connected to the Internet, at any time. They will also be able to send their completed assignments to teachers via our Moodle and use other facilities that are provided on Moodle.
The Dyffryn Taf Moodle is due to be on-line by mid September 2007, courses in A level History, Psychology and Health and Social Care will be used by Form Six. Other courses will be added gradually and we hope to have at least the outline of every course in place by the end of this academic year. Access to Moodle will be using a password which will be provided to all students. Students will be able to view all the courses, but will only be able to participate in the courses that they have been enrolled on by School.
If you would like to look at this on-line provision use your son/daughters password via the link below.
